Rock Fest Photos

12,000 people attended RockFest XXIV at the Washington County Fairgrounds Saturday…. And here’s what I saw. I’ll post/write more tomorrow when I have time, but here are a few of my favorite photos of the day. I focused on fans mostly, because I find them fascinating, but the bands where phenomenal.
LPGA

Last weekend I shot the LPGA golf tournament at Pumpkin Ridge. I fallowed Ai Miyazato, mostly, because she was in the best position to win, and she did. Here are a few of my favorite images.
Available Light

For the longest time I’ve considered myself an “available light” photographer. In the world of photography, this basically refers to photographers who prefer naturalistic and ambient light when shooting (not using flash). Being an available light photographer has really helped me develop my style, but I think it’s time to move forward with my photography and start controlling my [...]
Photos from Las Vegas, 120 Film (Wedding Portrait Photographers International)

Okay boys and girls, I got anther couple of rolls of 120 film back from the lab today. I shot two rolls of Kodak Portra Neutral Color 160, and a roll of Kodak T-Max 100 while I was in Vegas for the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention. I focused mainly on out of the [...]
Eros Fest NW Fire Dancers | Video

I cut together a quick video from my coverage of the fire dancers at the 2009 Eros Fest NW.
Oaks Park, Skate

It was another rainy dreary gray Sunday in Portland today, so I took a trip down to Oaks Park to see what I could see. I’ve been thinking about producing a series on roller skating. It’s fascinating to me how popular this past-time is here in Portland, and I’m sure it has niche groups all [...]

A traveling with the Stars Q and A with Annie Wersching. You can see the full article at USAtoday.com if you’re so inclined. Zion National Park [...]
Best of 2009, The Spectrum

The Spectrum newspaper, where I worked for a few years as a staff photographer, posted a “best of” photo gallery to show off my images from 2009. I left that paper back in the early 2009, but I’m more an happy with the selection of images from the first few months of the year, edited [...]
The Fear of Battle

While most people are Christmas shopping or watching the clock count down to their holiday vacation, some young boys are doing battle. Too young for the rank and file combat of modern war, but plenty old enough to battle with their dexterity among like-minded youth on the streets of PDX. I found them on 5th, [...]
Pig’s Feet

I did a shoot today with DP Moira Morel who shot this piece about an ethical butcher. We had the pleasure of shooting him as he prepared a whole pig for banquet. I helped out with lighting and did the sound mix for the short video, and managed to grab some still photos as well. [...]
One Band, One Fan

The band Hotter Than A Crotch took to the stage last week at the Mt. Tabor pub. It just so happens that their show coincided with the much anticipated OSU v. UofO civil war football game. So needless to say it wasn’t a full house. So here are a few photos I took at the [...]
